Linden R. Drew, 65, Was Manager of Golf Course

Linden R. (Lindy) Drew of Tisbury died Wednesday, March 26, at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital. He was 65. He was born in New Bedford on June 20, 1937, the son of Carol Drew and Edith Bates.

He moved frequently from the north and south shore areas to Martha's Vineyard due to his father's occupation as a funeral director. He attended Island schools when here.

He was an army veteran stationed in Germany during the early 1960s. Returning to the United States after his discharge, he had lived in Richmond, Va., and worked for the A&P Supermarket as a meat manager. He had always called the Island his home, and he came back to the place he loved to work for the former Up-Island supermarket and later Cronig's market in the meat department.

For the last eight years he has been the manager and ranger of the Mink Meadows Golf Course. Mr. Drew was a member of the PA Club.

He is survived by his brother, Edwin Drew of Tisbury.

His funeral is private, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Windemere Nursing Home, P.O. Box 1747, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557. Arrangements are under the care of the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
