Herbert G. Yeo, 84, Was Army Veteran, Engineer

Herbert G. Yeo, 84, of Maple Leaf Estates in Port Charlotte, Fla., died on Jan. 1 at Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte. He was the husband of Betty Yeo.

Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada on Nov. 15, 1919, he resided in Port Charlotte since 1982 after moving to Florida from Lincoln, R.I. He was raised and educated in Attleboro, where he lived for many years before moving to Rhode Island. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army.

He was employed as a mechanical engineer for Augat Inc. in Attleboro for many years prior to his retirement; before that, he worked for Texas Instruments.

Mr. Yeo was an avid golfer and was responsible for organizing the Wednesday night poker games in his community.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Laura Babbitt of Attleboro, Nancy Munn of Centerville, Carolyn Eddy of Vineyard Haven and Donna Hendrickson of Champaign, Ill.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Ernest Yeo and Earl Yeo.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a celebration of life gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, in the Commonwealth Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Interment will be private.
