Jared McCabe Rosner Loved Island Summers

Jared McCabe Rosner, 24, of Connecticut and Edgartown, died May 1 following a skiing injury at Alpine Meadows in Tahoe City, Calif.

He was graduated from Amity High School in 1997, from Pomfret School in 1998 and from Bucknell University in 2002. He has been a regular Edgartown summer and fall resident since 1987, when he was seven years old. He loved everything about the Vineyard including tennis at the Edgartown Yacht Club; bluefish, bass and bonito fishing; the South Beach surf, biking and rollerblading and a bit of summer ice hockey. He attended the Federated Church, where he declared himself impressed by the Rev. Jery Fritz's Birkenstocks, and among his various summer jobs, he painted the picket fence outside the Martha's Vineyard Historical Society.

Jared loved his family, his dog, Inca, his cat, Emmy, his Amity, Bucknell and Tahoe pals, the outdoors, music, books, writing, talking and laughter. His unique spirit, energy, joyfulness and optimism, and his love and enthusiasm for life have blessed all who knew him.

Jared will be remembered and loved forever by his mother, Krista Hart; his father, Bob Rosner; his sister, Annsley; his step-father, Dick Hart; his grandparents, Elaine Berneike and Ruth and Milt Rosner, his cousins, aunts and uncles and myriad friends.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on May 16 at the First Church of Christ in Woodbridge, Conn. Jared's family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to Ronald McDonald House in New Haven, Conn., or Reno, Nev., or to a charity of your choice.
