Eleanor M. MacMunn Was Edgartown Native

Eleanor Mercer MacMunn died July 23 at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, after several months of failing health.

She had owned and operated an antique business with her late husband, Henry J. (Harry) MacMunn. She was a member of the Bethel, Me., Grange.

Mrs. MacMunn was born at home in Edgartown to the late Nathan and Edna (Willoughby) Mercer. She was graduated from the Edgartown High School and from the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She lived in Bethel, Me., for several years before moving to Haverhill six months ago to live with her daughter.

She leaves her sons, Bruce and his wife, Chontel, of Greene, Me., and Paul and his wife, Julia, of Turners Falls; a daughter, Pauline, and her husband, Stephen, of Haverhill; brothers Willoughby Mercer of Coronado, Calif., and A. Stanley Mercer of Chilmark; a sister, Rachel Burns of Centerville; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Peter S. MacMunn; a granddaughter; a sister, Caroline M. Moore, and her brother, Nathan J. Mercer.
