Thelma Crawford Had Long Career in Banking

Thelma M. Crawford of Oak Bluffs died at 4:45 p.m. on July 31, 2004.

Thelma's lifetime of kindness and compassion to all beings she encountered was a rare and blessed gift to the world.

A banker for 37 years in New York, Denver and Martha's Vineyard, her last position before retirement was as the executive vice president and chief executive officer of the Edgartown National Bank.

She was the loving and devoted mother of Leslie R. Crawford; adored mother in law of Lisa Y. Crawford, loving grandmother of Zoe Elizabeth Crawford; beloved sister to Joseph Menears and Berdice Petway, deceased; beloved sister in law to Rae Menears and Mattie Menears, deceased; beloved aunt to Robert, Barbara, Mario, and Torrin; lifelong and loved friend to Henry and Arlene Toney, and faithful and much-loved and admired friend to many Islanders. She is also survived by longtime friend Gerry DeBettencourt.
