Katherine Maseda, 46, Was a Native of Boston

Katherine Maseda of Oak Bluffs died Friday, August 20, at the Martha's Vineyard Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of James M. Maseda and was married 24 years.

She was the daughter of Katherine G. (McPhee) Manning of Oak Bluffs and the late William A. Manning. She was born in Boston on Nov. 7, 1957, and lived in North Quincy. Kathy was graduated from the eighth grade from Sacred Heart School in North Quincy and moved to the Island in 1972 after summering with her family previous years. She was graduated from Martha's Vineyard High School in 1975.

Kathy was a high school bus monitor for the past couple of years; before that, she worked for Shirley's Hardware as a clerk for 10 years.

She enjoyed being with her family and camping.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Brendan J. Maseda of Oak Bluffs; her mother and her step-father, Joseph Nunes of Oak Bluffs; Her mother in law and father in law, Mr. and Mrs Antone Maseda of Oak Bluffs; two sisters, Joan Cobb and her husband, Wayne, of Bridgewater and Marilyn Manning of Amesbury; a brother, Richard Manning of Oak Bluffs; a sister in law, Antoinette Reid, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Pawtucket, R.I., and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for the interment of her cremated remains will be held on Tuesday, August 31, at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineyard avenue, Oak Bluffs, celebrated by the Rev.
