Dorothy Franklin Emin, age 88, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died on Sept. 20. Mrs. Emin was born on July 14, 1916, in Brockton to Charles F. and Jennie (Farwell) Bell. She came to this area in 1968 from Massachusetts. Mrs. Emin was a member of the Christian Scientist Church and was a teacher and educator for many years. She graduated from Bridgewater State College and received her master's degree from Boston University. Her career began in in the late 1940s in Massachusetts, where she taught in Brockton, Salem, Hyannis and also at Salem State College. She taught throughout Palm Beach County in the 1970s and 1980s. She is predeceased by her husband George Emin. Together they owned the Galley of Menemsha in the village of Menemsha.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Jane Eckman of Bradford, Vt.; and one son, Harold Charles Stanley of Edgartown; four grandchildren, three extended grandchildren and three extended great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Abel's Hill Cemetery in Chilmark.
