Suzanne M. Chapdelaine Davis, Lived in West Tisbury

Suzanne M. Chapdelaine Davis of Rock Island, Ill. died on Sunday, Nov. 28 at the home of her parents, Henri and Lillian Chapdelaine in Davenport, Iowa following a brief illness. She was 51.

Suzanne Marie Chapdelaine was born July 27, 1953 at Otis Air Force Base in Bourne, a daughter of Henri and Lillian Ann (Halle) Chapdelaine. She was united in marriage to Mark Fitzgerald Davis in January of 1981 in North Falmouth. They lived in West Tisbury.

She graduated from William Mason High School, Mason, Ohio. Suzanne received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology at Southeastern Massachusetts University and worked as a Marine Biologist for Marine Research, Inc., Falmouth.

Most recently Suzanne was an Associate Sanitarian for the County of Rock Island for three years. She then became an environmental health specialist for the Scott County Health Department, Davenport, Iowa for fourteen years until her recent illness was diagnosed.

Suzanne was awarded the Iowa Environmental Health Association Distinguished Service Award in recognition of outstanding service to IEHA in 2003-2004.

She had a passion for the outdoors and spent much of her leisure time gardening, hiking with her dogs, camping, or working on her fishpond in her backyard. Memorials can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association.

Survivors include a daughter Sarah H. Davis and Eddie Cupp; and grandson, Zachary Alexander Cupp of Moline, Ill.; a son Aaron Mark Davis of Rock Island; her parents Henri and Lillian Ann Chapdelaine, of Davenport; a brother and sister in law, Henri Andre and Leatha Chapdelaine,of Milan, Ill.; and four sisters and brothers in law, Marie Anne and Craig Connolly, Denise Marie LaBrecque and Kevin Best, all of Davenport; Annette Marie Winters, Paducah, Ken.; and Corinne Marie and Gary Rasso, Bettendorf; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Sophia Halle and Henry and Ethel Chapdelaine Sr. May they rest in peace.
