Elizabeth Bryant, 59, Was Resident of West Tisbury

Elizabeth (Beecher) Bryant of Bradford, Me., formerly of Martha's Vineyard, died Dec. 2 surrounded by the love of her family at her family's home on Danl's Way in West Tisbury. She was 59.

Mrs. Bryant was the wife of Stephen Bryant, to whom she was married on Oct. 24, 1970.

Born in Bristol, Conn., on May 17, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Richard Holbrook and Julia M. (Hull) Beecher. She lived on the Vineyard for 30 years prior to moving to Maine four years ago.

Mrs. Bryant received her master's degree in social work from Boston University. For the past four years she had been employed as an outpatient clinic social worker for Community Health and Counseling in Lincoln, Me.

She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Her interests included sewing, gardening, art, music and reading. Her favorite times were those spent with people and she had a special love for animals. In her volunteer time, she dedicated her efforts to children and families.

In addition to her husband of 34 years, she leaves two daughters, Rebecca Hepplewhite of Madison, Wis., and Robin Bryant of Bradford, Me.; a son, Justin Bryant of West Tisbury; a sister, Hannah Beecher of West Tisbury; a brother, John Beecher of Thomaston, Conn., and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the spring when the lilacs are in bloom. Interment will be private.
