Alice J. Medina, 83, Was Homemaker and Artist

Alice J. (Silva) Medina, formerly of Fairhaven, died Monday, June 13, at Sippican Healthcare Center. She was 83 years old. She was the wife of Arthur J. Medina; they would have celebrated their 57th anniversary on Sunday.

Born in Vineyard Haven, she was the daughter of the late Antone L. and Clara (Fernandes) Silva. She had lived in Fairhaven since 1957 and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven.

Mrs. Medina was graduated from the Swain School of Design. She was a homemaker and an accomplished artist.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Wanda C. Medina of Fairhaven; four brothers, Arthur S. Silva of Oak Bluffs, Eddy Silva of Princeton, N.J., James Silva of Vineyard Haven and Ralph Silva of New Bedford; a sister, Clarice Rogers of Boston; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral was held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Fairhaven Funeral home, 117 Main street, Fairhaven, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Cremation followed. Interment was private.
