Ann Chamberlain Was Director of Art Museum

Ann Chamberlain, 53, of New Britain, Conn., died August 11 at New Britain General Hospital following a short illness.

For the past three years she had been director of development at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Previously, she held development positions at the Julliard School in New York city, the Atlanta College of Art and the Milwaukee School of Art and Design. She was graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., and studied at the Beaux Arts School in Avignon, France.

Ann was extremely effective in the difficult business of fundraising and was able in all four of her positions to combine this ability with her intense interest in art. In her personal life, her love for art was manifest in everything she did. She was devoted to her family, her co-workers and her friends.

She is survived by her father and stepmother Rodman and Betsy Chamberlain of Suches, Ga.; brother Timothy of Waynesville, Ohio; brother David and his wife, Kim, of Atlanta, Ga., and brother Ty of Albuquerque, N.M. She also is survived by her nieces and nephews Ben, Mitch, Jody and Margie.

Because of Ann's love of the New Britain museum, her family asks that donations be made to a fund in her name at the New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington street, New Britain, CT 06052.
