Nancy K. (Powers) Vogel died suddenly on Feb. 11 in Beverly. Born in Medford on August 30, 1932, Nancy was the daughter of James W. and Huldah (Galley) Powers.

She graduated from Lexington High School in 1951, and although she entered the workforce immediately she successfully completed many college-level courses throughout her life. A flight attendant, a chamber of commerce director, and real estate broker, Nancy loved working with the public. She had a very successful career in real estate, both in sales and management. While she had many hobbies, writing was her first love. Nancy published many short stories, poems, children’s stories and a myriad of trade journal articles. She was also very active as a representative to the Massachusetts Tenants Organization.

Nancy was a loving mother to her daughter Wendy and her husband William Dunham of San Jose, Calif., and son John Vogel of North Conway, N.H. She adored her grandchildren Kristen, Shawn and Lauren Vogel. Her niece and husband Jackie and Mike Buckley of Essex were very dear to her heart. Her loving and close relationships with family, extended family and many friends were very important to her. She is most remembered for her generosity, sincerity, and sense of humor.

In addition to her children and grandchildren she is survived by her brother Richard E. Powers and his wife Mary Lou of Nashua, N.H. and many adored nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by twin sons, her parents and her sister Patricia (Pat) Smith.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Interment is at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
