Marie Elizabeth Hearn, daughter of Ann Bagley Hearn of Oak Bluffs and the late William Richard Hearn, Jr. of Foxboro, died April 1 at Norwood Hospital. Marie struggled with various physical and mental illnesses much of her life.

She always enjoyed brief visits to the Island whenever she was able. Marie wrote a movie critic column for the Riverside Social Day Club in Norwood, Mass. She loved to keep in touch with her friends and family on the Island through brief but frequent phone conversations.

A graduate of Foxboro High School, Marie had lived in various nursing homes for the past several years. Her last residence was at Golden Living Center in Norwood. Besides her mother, Marie is survived by her cousin Lee Grindle of Marshfield, her maternal aunts, Joyce Wadsworth of California and Megan Alley of Oak Bluffs. She also leaves her cousins, Earl, and Carol of California, Karen of Washington State, Lynn, Mary and Kati of Oak Bluffs and Dion of South Carolina and numerous second cousins. Marie was also predeceased by her brother Christopher Gerald Hearn.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro on April 4. It is suggested that donations in Marie’s memory be made to the Vineyard Haven First Baptist Church stained glass window restoration fund.
