John Phillips Kirk died peacefully at his home among family and friends after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. He was 67.

Born in Lawrence in May 1942, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Malcolm) Kirk, John has lived in Concord, N.H. for the past three years coming from West Tisbury.

After high school John worked in the Family Funeral Home and later went on to Bentley College where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. John also has a Master of Divinity Degree which he has earned over several years of his life. John most recently worked as a district manager at the Concord Monitor in Concord, and prior to that he had worked for many years as private financial management consultant which he retired from in 2005.

John was a member of the Living Hope Community Church on Summer street in Penacook and was very involved with the aspects of his church community. He was a kind and gentle man who got satisfaction out of working with and trying to help people in recovery or people in need of support. John loved to read his bible and being outdoors as well as going on long walks with his dog Griffin.

John was a wonderful husband who leaves his wife of eight years Patti (Corio) Kirk of Concord and West Tisbury; three sons Stephen Kirk of Naples, Me., Brian Kirk of Rutland, Vt., and Andrew Kirk of Dunstable; a daughter Karen Loughlin of Danvers; a stepson Edward Casey of New Haven, Ct.; a stepdaughter Nicole LePage of Franklin, N.H.; a brother Arthur Kirk of Amesbury; two sisters Mary Gillis of Methuen and Jo Anderson of Long Prairie, Minn.; many grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Sunday July 19 at 2 p.m. at the Living Hope Community Church at 31 Summer street Penacook, N.H. Pastor Larry Morris will officiate.
