Martha Hart Littke Albelo died peacefully on Oct. 24 at her home in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Born in New Britain, Conn., to the late Ted and Jane Hart, she was educated at the Mooreland Hill School, Netherwood School in New Brunswick, Canada, and Pembroke College (Brown University). She summered among friends and many relatives at her grandfather’s home in Harthaven, Oak Bluffs and was a member of the East Chop Tennis Club, East Chop Beach Club and Vineyard Haven Yacht Club.

After her marriage to Roy Littke, she lived in Thailand, where her older daughter was born, then a year in Japan. She lived in Maryland until her husband’s death, then moved to Puerto Rico with her three children. She married Luis Albelo, and was later divorced. She worked for the United States Tennis Association in the schools program, wrote a weekly tennis article for the San Juan Star, taught tennis and managed tennis facilities on the Island. She was a referee at tournaments and was on the senior tennis team that went to two national tournaments. She received many awards from various tennis associations, honoring her services.

Marty is survived by her children, Linda Littke McGrath, Connie Littke-Smith, Philip Littke and Rafael Albelo; eight loving grandchildren; her sister, Joanne Hart Shepard; two nieces; a nephew; and many dear friends.
