Michael M. Trusty of Edgartown died on Saturday, June 18, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a tragic incident in Vineyard Haven the previous week. He was 45.

Michael M. Trusty was born on Nov. 23, 1965 in Hanover, Jamaica.

He moved to the Vineyard in 2000 and was employed at the Harbor View Hotel and Granite Hardware Store, both in Edgartown. In 2006 Michael decided to start his own painting company. His passion for life and outdoors was obvious; he loved to sing, fish and cook. His kind heart and cheerful smile will be missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents Egburn and Inez (Thomas) Trusty. Surviving him are his children, Michael Trusty Jr., Mataya Trusty, Navarone Trusty, Junior Trusty, Romario Trusty and Nickel Trusty; his sisters, Phyllis Thomas James, Myrna Burrell, Paulette Young, Marvia Trusty; his brother, John Morgan; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends

A visitation period will be held on Thursday, June 30, at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., followed by his funeral service. Interment will be in the New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown

Family and friends will gather afterwards at the P.A. Club on Vineyard avenue in Oak Bluffs.
