She went on to obtain her master’s in education at Wayne State University. Jackie taught briefly before marrying her husband, the late Harvey C. Russell, in Edgartown in 1958. She took up residence in New York, spending summers in Oak Bluffs.

She is survived by daughter Denise Jones of San Antonio; son Harvey (Denny) Russell and his wife, Nicole, of Oak Bluffs; nieces, nephews and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey C. Russell, on Feb. 20, 1998, and her son John V. Russell, on May 24, 2003.
