It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Judi Sunday. Judi died Saturday, Jan. 5 peacefully at her home.

She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting naturalistic landscapes of her beloved Martha’s Vineyard. As permanent a fixture of the Island as the ocean itself, Judi once said, “the beauty and mystical nature of The Vineyard as well as the people inspire my artwork. My work conveys the fun and whimsy of the Island and my passion for the ocean.” Judi received her formal art training at Northeastern University, earning a bachelors degree in fine arts and art history.

Judi was a loving and caring mother to her children Raychel and Alyssa, her step-children Kristine and Jeff and eight grandchildren: Taylor, Alex, Abby, Sean, Marissa, Elliese, Hannah and Julia who she adored. She lived for spending time with her family and friends. Judi Sunday’s legacy is forever secured, not by her brilliant artwork, but by the countless people who gave her inspiration by simply having known her and been privileged enough to call her a friend.
