Walter Pizzano Sr. of Edgartown died peacefully at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 2 after a prolonged illness. He was 84.

Originally from Chelsea, he resided in Medford, Arlington and Acton before retiring to Edgartown. Walter was married to Doris (DeNapoli), who pre-deceased him in 2004. He served briefly in the United States Army. He is survived by his three children, Susan, Walter and David, all of Massachusetts, as well as three grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs. Visiting hours will take place prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at New Westside Cemetery in Edgartown following the service. All are welcome to join the family after the burial for some refreshments at the Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located next to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
