Selena Chmielewski of Glastonbury died Monday, Feb. 10. She was 61.

Born June 25, 1952 to Saul and the late Rose Halfond in Bronx, N.Y., she grew up in suburban Long Island and graduated from Buffalo State College. She was employed for many years at Dermatology Associates of Glastonbury, and resided in town for 37 years.

An expert seamstress, Selena made costumes for many of the Youth and Family Services Bureau summer theatre productions. She also enjoyed cross-stitch, baking, playing mah jongg with her friends, and summers on Martha’s Vineyard. A loving mother and devoted daughter, Selena is survived by her two sons, David Chmielewski and his wife Rachel, and Michael Chmielewski; her father Saul Halfond; her brother Ivan Halfond and his wife Sandra, and their children G.J. and Raquel and her husband, David. She is also survived by her nephew Mark Dara and his wife Margaret, and her goddaughter Christine Roth and her husband Craig.

A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 14 at the Mulryan Funeral Home in Glastonbury.
