William H. Allen of Brockton died Friday, April 11, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston. He was 72.

William was born in Rockland to the late Leslie and Margaret (King) Allen. William was raised on Martha’s Vineyard and he graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, where everyone knew him by Froggy as his yearbook read.

William continued his education and graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a degree in business and worked for the state of Massachusetts as a state inspector.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E.(Haliday) Allen. He is survived by his fiance, Nancy Smart; his children, Michael, Lisa and Sonja Allen of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Lache, Michelle and Khalia King-Allen of Bridgewater. He is also survived by his siblings: Benjamin Allen of New Hampshire, Anthony and Herbert Allen of Boston, Flora and Josephine Allen of New Bedford, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leslie and Ralph Allen.

William was interred on April 16 in the Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater, with a drumming ceremony of tribal members which included Tobias Vanderhoop, Ryan Malonson, Cheryl Andrews-Maltais and Jonathan Perry. We, the Allen family, thank you for a great ceremony.
