Siobhan Sennott McDonnell of Portsmouth, R.I., lost her courageous struggle with ALS on June 4. She was 56. She was the devoted and cherished wife of Murray J. McDonnell.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Claire Fredette Sennott and the late Donald Merrick Sennott. They summered in East Chop and Oak Bluffs.

She attended the Mary C. Wheeler School, Vassar College and graduated from the University of Rhode Island. Siobhan and Murray lived a happy life, devoted to each other while he pursued his global career as shore crew in a number of America’s Cup and Volvo races. Siobhan taught and tutored children from many nations while they lived abroad and on Aquidneck Island when they were in residence in Portsmouth, R.I.

She was survived by her sisters, Sheila Sennott of Amherst and Eilisa Sennott of Lincoln, and her brother Sean Sennott of Providence, R.I.
