Constance Aileen Kammer died Nov. 4, 2013 in New York city. She was 89.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Kammer of Newark, N.J., and her mother, Adelia Barry of Martha’s Vineyard, and her father Vincent Umstot of Tom’s River, N.J.

Connie was born in Hyndman, Pa., on March 11, 1924. She attended school in New Jersey, was graduated from Barringer High School in 1944 and then attended modeling school in New York city. She moved to New York city after her husband died and continued her career in marketing. She was very successful in her field as a buyer for women’s accessories and clothing for a large national retailer. She enjoyed retirement at her summer home on Martha’s Vineyard and her winter apartment in New York city. She enjoyed the New York scene, taking in operas, plays and the art museums.

She leaves behind her brothers Neal and Garth Umstot; her sister in law Barbara; and five nieces and nephews: Karen Clark, Kathryn Lehnus, Todd Umstot, Mark Umstot and Scott Umstot.

She is dearly missed, and life has not been the same without her. Go in peace, dear sister and aunt. We love you.

A memorial service will be held at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on August 6 at 12 p.m. After the service, Connie’s ashes will be scattered on the ocean.
