Charles Joseph Rutkowski Jr. of Norton died unexpectedly on April 7 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He was 34 years old.

Charlie was born Oct. 5, 1980 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford to Charles Rutkowski and Suzanne Sabino. Charlie graduated from Taunton High School in 1998.

Charlie loved to travel and attend concerts and festivals, The Grateful Dead, Phish, and The Allman Brothers to name a few. He was a guitar player and loved sitting by a campfire with friends strumming and singing.

Charlie met the mother of his children, Tnisha Chandler, in 2008 in Bridgewater They moved to Martha’s Vineyard, where Tnisha was born and raised. He had a lifelong love of the ocean and enjoyed fishing all over the Island. Charlie worked as a boat and house painter.

In their years together Charlie and Tnisha welcomed a daughter, Kaya Marie, in 2010, and a son, Abel Joseph, in 2012. There was nothing that Charlie was more proud of than being a father and he loved spending time with his kids. Whether it was flying kites, riding bikes, or trips to the zoo, he was at his best with them.

Charlie was predeceased by his mother Suzanne Sabino in 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Kaya Marie Rutkowski, his son, Abel Joseph Rutkowski, and their mother, Tnisha Chandler all of Aquinnah, his father, Charles (Chuck) Rutkowski and his partner Kathy Kangas of Maryland, grandparents Manuel and Cecilia Sabino of Dartmouth, a sister, Katie Estey of Fall River, and a brother, Nathan Estey of New York. He was also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs.
