Helen N. (DeVore) Edwards died on Easter morning, April 5, in St. Joseph, Mich. She was 81. She was surrounded by her daughter, Sally McAllister, Sally’s husband Ray, and her son Carl Edwards.

She was born on August 28, 1933 in Newark, N.J. and has also resided in Edgartown with her family and in Corriganville, Md. with her parents, Robert and Helen DeVore, prior to moving to Berrien Springs, Mich., with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband John M. Edwards, an infant daughter Nora Lee Edwards, and her brother, Don C. DeVore. Helen is survived by her daughter Sally McAllister and her husband Ray of Berrien Springs, Mich. and four sons, John Steven Edwards and his wife Mary and Craig Edwards and his wife Christy, both of Edgartown; Dale Edwards and his wife Ann of South Hadley, Mass.; and Carl J. Edwards and his wife Lilian of Port Charlotte, Fla. Helen is survived by six grandchildren, Elizabeth Kitue and her husband Alex of Wallington, N.J.; Christopher and Tyler Edwards of Edgartown; and Alan, Timothy, and Shelby of South Hadley, Mass. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert DeVore and his wife Anne of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Chet DeVore and wife Janet of Severna Park, Md., a sister in law, Nancy DeVore, of Milledgeville, Ga. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen attended church services with her mother at United Church of Christ in Corriganville and enjoyed attending Michiana Fil-Am Seventh Day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs with Sally and Ray. Helen loved listening to country music. The family would like to thank Liz Lombonaung and all her friends at Meadowview Gardens in Berrien Springs where she resided.

Friends and family were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home on April 11. A funeral service followed at the funeral home with the Rev. Sandy Hetz-Burchell of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at nearby Porter’s Cemetery.
