Grace A. (Healis) Eaton of North Providence, R.I., died peacefully at her daughter’s home on June 19. She turned 91 on May 19.

Grace Eaton, Robin Call, a beloved family member and Chappaquiddick tribal elder, will be greatly missed. She would reminisce about spending time on Martha’s Vineyard with her sister as a young girl and her father’s close connection to the Gay Head cousins.

A lifelong resident of North Providence, she was a daughter of the late Castelene (Holden) Healis and Herbert B. Healis (born in 1878 in Edgartown), and the granddaughter of Eliza Jane (Matthews) Healis and Edward T. Healis of Barbados. She was the mother of the late Claudia Eaton and the wife of the late Scott Eaton. She was the youngest of ten children; the sister of the late Ulysses, Harold, Walter, Herbert, Bessie, and Eleanor Healis, Edna Sykes, and Mabel Gordon.

Grace worked in the jewelry industry for 25 years before retiring in 1989 to take care of her grandchildren. She was an active member of the former St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Centerdale, R.I.

She leaves her sister Margaret Williams; two daughters, Michelle Jackson and Yvonne Norman and their spouses Louis Jackson and Anthony Riley; five grandchildren, Stephanie Jackson, Shelby Norman, Vanessa Jackson, Jillian Riley and Christopher Magnett; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 8:45 a.m. from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a requiem eucharist at 10 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 251 Danielson Pike, North Scituate. Interment will follow at North Burial Ground, Providence. Calling hours are Monday, June 22 from 5 to 8 p.m.
