Beverly Mae Coggins, formerly of Vineyard Haven, died peacefully on June 4 in Oneonta, Ala. She was 91.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1923 and lived in Pittsfield, Mass. until 1939, when her family moved to the Vineyard and opened the Ben Franklin Store. Beverly graduated from Pembroke College at Brown University and was a nurse for many years in both Washington D.C. and Miami, Fla. She retired to care for her beloved mother, Alice, until her death in 1995.

Beverly was also predeceased by her father Wallace, brother Benjamin and his wife Claire, brother Robert and his wife Dorothy, brother Dana, and brother in law Gordon Starratt. She leaves her brother David Coggins of Wells, Maine, sister Barbara Starratt of Wauchula, Fla., sisters-in-law Mary and Anne Coggins, many nieces and nephews, and her friend/caregiver Judy Nixon.

There will be a graveside service, with a eulogy to honor her memory by her nephew Bill Coggins, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven on Tuesday, June 30 at noon, followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall in Vineyard Haven.
