Michael Bryan Flynn Sr. died at his home in Vineyard Haven on Nov. 2. He was 69.

He was born on Nov. 30, 1953 in Mount Kisco, N.Y., the son of the late William and Iole. He grew up in Pleasantville, N.Y.

In May 1976, Michael made the move from Connecticut to Martha’s Vineyard, where he quickly became a lifelong Islander. As a skilled carpenter, he dedicated many years to constructing some of the most beautiful homes on the Island.

He found joy in navigating the Island’s waters by boat, enjoying the ocean’s presence, and embarking on adventures on his beloved Harley. Yet, beyond everything, he loved his two sons, Michael and Patrick, the most.

His endearing nature, characterized by his infectious laugh, warm smile and sharp wit, endeared him to many. Notably, his witty humor and wise jokes became defining aspects of his charm, leaving an unforgettable mark on those around him.

Michael is survived by his loving sons, Michael Flynn Jr. of Mashpee and Patrick Flynn and his wife Gina of Billerica; his granddaughter Everly; his friend and former wife Marcia Denine; his sisters, CarolAnne Powers and her husband Jim of Connecticut and Maureen Marin of Florida; his brother William Flynn and his wife Carol of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held at St. Augustine’s Church in Vineyard Haven on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven. A luncheon at the Portuguese American Club in Oak Bluffs will follow the service.
