Two Vineyard teams saw their postseasons come to an end last week, with girls' tennis dropping its first-round match to rival Cohasset, and boys' lacrosse falling to number-three seed Hanover in the quarterfinals of the division three south section tournament.
The boys, seeded eleventh in the bracket, picked up a close 9-7 win over sixth-seeded Old Rochester on Thursday, but could not overcome the Indians' offense. The team lost 14-3, and finishes the season with an 11-9 record.
The girls' tennis team fell 5-0 to number-two seed Cohasset on Thursday, playing with a squad that did not include number one singles player Samantha Potter or number three singles player Charlotte Potter. The Vineyard was seeded fifteenth in the bracket. They close the season with an 8-9 record.
Postseason play continues today at 3:00 p.m. as boys' tennis begins its playoff bid. The team, seeded second, hosts number-seven seed Norwell.
