On June 23, 2007, McClain Livingston Howarth became the bride of Bridger Edmund McGaw. The Rev. Robert D. Edmunds officiated the marriage ceremony at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Edgartown, where the bride was baptized and confirmed. A reception followed at the Chappaquiddick Beach Club.

The bride, known as Macy, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Howarth of Bexley, Ohio, and Chappy. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. McGaw of Belmont and Eastham. The bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Clinton Livingston and Mrs. Jane F. Howarth, are deceased. The bridegroom is the grandson of Edgar T. See of Westport, Conn., and the late Kay Merriam See.

Mrs. McGaw is a graduate of the Columbus Academy and Kenyon College. She received her master’s degree from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

Mr. McGaw is a graduate of Belmont High School and Harvard College. He received his master’s degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard with a focus on international and homeland security. He served as a presidential appointee in the U.S. Department of Defense during the Clinton administration.

The bride and bridegroom are national security consultants at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C., where they are living following their honeymoon in the Greek isles.

The bride, a fifth-generation Chappy summer resident, has spent all of her summers at the Reinhart cottage, one of the original campstyle houses to be built on the inner harbor. It was the time spent there with her Livingston grandparents that inspired her intense love for the Island. Her summer jobs included working at the Old Sculpin Gallery and writing the Chappy column for the Vineyard Gazette, as had her grandmother and mother before her.
