This is the weather I love. It is warm during the day and cool at night. Wednesday we were all sitting quietly when the big sound of thunder jolted the house. Then there was one more. Then the sun came out and it was beautiful for the rest of the day. Makes you wonder what Mother Nature was up to that day.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. I still did not get the list but I will have it for next week.

Well, people are laughing at all the hype for Earl, after he decided to go out to sea and leave us with rain. I woke up on Saturday morning and looked out the window to see nothing changed. The trees were still there and there were no leaves on the ground; I thought the northeaster we had the week before caused more damage than Earl. Oh, well, people did their jobs of warning us and making sure we would be safe for which we should be thankful.

I know many people had a lot of flooding from Earl, as he did leave a lot of water behind. I noticed the ponds filled quickly, and our little pond at work was overflowing.

The beach gang made our way out to Norton Point on Sunday. We had free exfoliation, as the wind was blowing the sand all around. So we all created a wind shield and continued to enjoy our Sunday and everybody’s company. It might have been our last weekend for everyone to get together, as school has begun and we have two teachers in our crew and lot of school age kids. But if the occasion arises we will be there in a flash.

Congratulations to four of our well-deserving police officers who received promotions and were sworn into their jobs this past Tuesday. Promoted to sergeant of the Edgartown Police Department are Craig Edwards, Jonathan Searle and Tom Smith. Promoted to detective sergeant is Chris Dolby. Congratulations to all.
