Women in History

Phyllis Vecchia will be teaching a women in history theatre education program for the Charter School and Tisbury School.

The program has been initially funded by Mal Jones and supported by Francie Desmone of West Tisbury. Funding was obtained by Sheila Bracy, the former executive director of Women Empowered.

This class will be offered as an enrichment program to all of the sixth and eighth grade students at the Tisbury School. At the Charter School it will be a part of the Social Studies curriculum for the sixth grade.

Students will study the lives of rainforest advocate Marina Silva, the first African American poet Phillis Wheatley, Eleanor Roosevelt and Madam Curie, to name a few.
