Spring must be on its way; the Island Theatre Workshop’s spring play festival, now in its fifth year, is about to begin.

This year’s festival runs Thursday, March 10 through Sunday, March 13 and then again from Thursday, March 17 through Sunday, March 20. Evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with additional Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. All shows are to be performed at the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven.

The plays include a first act of Saint Joan by George Bernard Shaw, Mrs. Sorken by Christopher Durang and Deer Play by Mary Louise Wilson.

In addition, the high school theater department’s original work Laces, written by Kate Murray, will be performed on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 only.

On Sunday, March 20 at both the matinee and evening performance Joe Siricusa’s adaptation I Am Hamlet, a very new take on William Shakespeare’s classic play, will be performed by Brian Morey.
