The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.
Brian S. Darby, 51, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on Jan. 12 charges in Oak Bluffs of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and possessing a class B drug (cocaine). A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 4.
Scott A. Francis, 47, of Edgartown, was arraigned on a Jan. 18 charge in Edgartown of operating a motor vehicle with license suspended for drunken driving. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for Feb. 21.
David J. Sylvia, 41, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to Nov. 17 charges in Oak Bluffs of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay a $150 fine and a $50 victim/witness assessment fee, to complete 30 hours of community service and to remain alcohol-free with screens. A charge of intimidating a witness was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.
Elizabeth A. Doon, 46, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on a July 17 charge in West Tisbury of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $350 in fees, to complete a 24-day driver alcohol education program, and to lose her license for 45 days. Was found not responsible on charges of marked lanes violation, operator sending/reading an electronic message and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle.
Donald B. Edgar, 60, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on a Oct. 21 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery, amended from assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Continued without a finding for one year, ordered to complete a counseling evaluation and any counseling as recommended by evaluation, not to contact the alleged victim, and to surrender any right to firearms for one year.
Robert Kaye, 67, of Oak Bluffs, was placed on pretrial probation for one year on Oct. 20 charges in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery on a person older than 60/disabled, and trespassing. Ordered not to abuse the alleged victim and to surrender any firearms to the Oak Bluffs Police Department for one year.
