The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.
Jason M. Canha, 40, of West Tisbury, arraigned on a March 29 charge in West Tisbury of domestic assault and battery and, in a separate case, on a March 28 charge in West Tisbury of domestic assault and battery. Bail was set at $2,500 for both cases, and pretrial hearings scheduled for May 3.
Cladiane M. Reis, 33, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on March 30 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, speeding and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 10.
Jamie L. Wainwright, 48, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on March 29 charges in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 17.
Carlos Dasilva, 43, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on a Jan. 14 charge in Oak Bluffs of possessing child pornography and, in a separate case, arraigned on an Oct. 19 charge in Oak Bluffs of distributing material of a child in the nude. In a report of investigation, state police trooper Robert Smith said he received information from the state Internet Crimes Against Children task force that a computer was sharing files last fall of suspected child pornography. A search and subpoena for Comcast records brought police to a Barnes Road residence, and Mr. Dasilva was arrested after police executed a search warrant at the home and interviewed several residents. Bail was set at $2,500, pretrial hearings scheduled for May 2.
William F. Mcdevitt Jr., 50, of Oak Bluffs, pleaded guilty to June 26 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, second offense (amended from fourth offense), operating a motor vehicle with license suspended, subsequent offense, possessing a class E drug (Xanax), and resisting arrest. Ordered to spend two years in a house of correction with 30 days to serve, balance suspended two years and placed on probation for two years, and ordered to a 14-day inpatient program and aftercare and to remain alcohol-free with screens. Also ordered to pay a $50 OUI victims assessment fee and a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee. Charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.
Jeffrey T. Moore, 43, of Vineyard Haven, will not have Feb. 2 charges in Oak Bluffs of trafficking in heroin, morphine or opium, possessing to distribute a class B drug (methadone) and possessing to distribute a class B drug (Suboxone) prosecuted in district court. He was indicted on drug charges in Dukes County superior court.
Aaron M. Pescaia, 24, of Aquinnah, was arraigned on April 6 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding in violation of special regulations, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for May 28.
