The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard has gathered a panel of experts to discuss pending state legislation that looks at reducing greenhouse gases by putting a price on carbon.

State senator Mike Barrett (D-Lexington), the primary sponsor of “An Act Combating Climate Change,” physicist Dr. Gary Rucinski, Northeast regional coordinator for citizen’s climate lobby, and Zaurie Zimmerman, an architect-activist and co-founder of Business Leaders for Climate Action will address how the bill will work, whether it will actually reduce carbon pollution, and how it will affect consumers.

The forum will take place Saturday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the community room at the West Tisbury Library.

A Tesla owned by Island resident Jonathan Blum will be on display in front of the library, and the winner of a drawing will take a ride in the all-electric car.
