The Island Autism Group’s first ever 5K walk and fun run was held on a rainy April 23. Despite the weather, we had more than 85 participants and raised $2,725.

Thanks to Brooke Avakian and Kate Conde of Plan It MV, Vineyard Construction Services, and the whole Avakian family, Road ID, the Edgartown police department for their time and help, the Edgartown fire department for their very generous donation, Rosewater for coffee and encouragement, and the town of Edgartown for hosting us. Finally, the Island Autism Group would like to thank all the teachers, paraprofessionals, parents and friends of people with autism who joined us and walked, ran, and skipped the 5K.

What a great first year for the event— see you next year!
