Emily Bramhall has been named acting executive director of the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard, the Endowment said in a press release this week.

The change follows the recent resignation of executive director Julie Anne McNary.

Ms. Bramhall will step down as chairman to assume the new position, while Melissa McKee Hackney will return as chairman, the release said.

Andria Jason is director of operations at the endowment, which is the Vineyard’s community fund with more than $10 million in assets. Founded 34 years ago, today the Endowment has 38 separate funds and has awarded $4.4 million in grants and scholarships.

A resident of Chilmark, Ms. Bramhall is a former longtime businesswoman who owned the retail store Bramhall & Dunn in Vineyard Haven. She has served on numerous boards, including the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation.
