The Trustees of Reservations will conduct a prescribed burn at the Wasque Reservation on Chappaquiddick.

The date of the burn will be determined based on weather, fuel conditions, staffing and other circumstances; the burn window runs through the winter.

Prescribed burning uses fire to restore and maintain fire-dependent landscapes by reducing fuel in an overgrown habitat. The Trustees manages burns with personnel from other agencies.

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation has conducted burns this fall at the State Forest.

Questions about the prescribed burn at Wasque can may be directed to The Trustees’ Islands Office, 508-693-7662 or Caitlin Borck, cborck@thetrustees.org.
