The Edgartown harbor master is investigating a boat grounding on Cape Pogue overnight.

The 32-foot Chris Craft power vessel is owned by a corporation which lists Earnest A. Boch as a manager, and is regularly docked at Mr. Boch’s Edgartown home, harbor master Charlie Blair said.

“This wasn’t a little grounding, this was high speed up on the beach,” Mr. Blair said. “The boat was way up on the beach. I was relieved no one was hurt.”

The incident happened at the Cape Pogue elbow, about a third of a mile from the lighthouse. Trustees of the Reservations superintendent Chris Kennedy, said a TTOR ranger responded some time after the incident and learned that the occupants of the boat had been picked up by friends in another vessel.

TTOR and the harbor master were not notified, so it was unclear when the incident happened. In the morning when reports of a boat on the beach were called in by other boaters.

Mr. Blair said a salvage company was working Friday morning to remove the boat from the beach.
