On Monday, August 12 at 7 p.m. a unique gospel musical will touch down at the Performing Arts Center. Look What a Wonder was conceived and written by Vineyarder Walter Robinson and was performed off-Broadway in New York city, among many other venues.

The musical tells the story of Black leaders Morris Brown (1770-1849),  one of the founders of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and Denmark Vesey (1767-1822),  an African American leader in Charleston, S.C., who was accused of planning a slave revolt and later executed.

The musical is about to have another life too, helping to educate urban high school youth about American slavery. A fall 2019 pilot will begin in several Newark, N.J. high schools.

The show on Monday at the Performing Arts Center is free.
