The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $737,513 for the business week ending on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions.

Much of the land bank revenue last week came from the town of Chilmark, where four transactions resulted in $325,998. Five transactions earned $203,314 in Oak Bluffs. Five transactions earned $136,377 in Edgartown. Four transactions earned $35,874 in Tisbury. One transaction resulted in $21,500 in Aquinnah. And two transactions earned $14,450 in West Tisbury.

The land bank uses its revenues to purchase and manage land for purposes of conservation, preservation and passive recreation. To date the agency has participated in the purchase of more than 3,243 acres of Vineyard land.
