Based on acceptable water quality testing results, the state Division of Marine Fisheries has reopened an area of the west arm of Lagoon Pond to shellfishing, according to an announcement from Tisbury shellfish constable Danielle Ewart.

Shellfishing is now permitted east of a line that extends across the west arm from 135 Beach Road (Pyewacket’s) to 36 Hines Point (the red house). The line is marked with black buoys. Maps have also been placed around the area and a detailed map is available on the shellfish department website at tisburyma.gov/shellfish.

Shellfishing west of the line, which includes the area behind Prime Marine and the westernmost flats at the foot of Skiff avenue, remains closed.

Shellfish permits can be purchased by credit card over the phone, or at the harbor office. Call 508-696-4249 or drop by the office information window.
