We have plenty of snow. It was a long day with the wind, the snow, lights going off and some just blinking. But we are here and still digging out.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Julianna Hagerty and Mateus Perini who celebrated Jan. 29; Melissa Pereira on Jan. 30; Katherine Carroll on Jan. 31; Sophia Da Silva on Feb. 1; Tieman Crowell and Ethan Thibodeau on Feb. 3; and to Haile Barbosa and Mariana Sandoval who celebrate on Feb. 4.

The big news of the week was probably the storm. Most of us got to hunker down in the house and wait it out but there were those who could not and did not. So, a big thank you goes out to the police, firemen, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, doctors, nurses, the Eversource crew and those who plowed. I am sure I am missing many more who dedicated their day to keeping us safe.

Of course I followed the events on Facebook and laughed — well kind of — at those who were complaining about the snow and how much they disliked it, etc. I thought most of those who live in New England never know from one day to another what the weather is going to be. I know the kids were happy, Sweetened Water Farm hills was prime for sledding and they took full advantage of it.

If you are home and can run a computer, the library has some great programs to join. For instance, certified yoga instructor Jelisa Difo leads a weekly online class in restorative yoga, a practice that allows you to slow down, restore and relax your body through passive stretching. No experience required. Classes will be on Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27. Just go on the library website and click on the class. There are great instructions to follow.

Seniors: don’t forget to check the senior center. If you don’t want to drive, bus passes are available at a senior rate. They have wellness classes you can do online. Bag lunches are available for pick-up on Tuesdays and Fridays and cost three dollars. They ask you to bring exact change for easier pick-up.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
