The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

July 1

Steven M. Podufaly, 58, of Waban was arraigned on a June 30 charge in Vineyard Haven of violating an abuse prevention order. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 18.

July 5

Demetrius D. Chaney, 36, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on July 5 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding in a specially regulated area. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 4.

Paulo Marques, 29, of Vineyard Haven was arraigned on a July 3 charge in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 11.

Barrett A. Saben, 69, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on July 4 charges in Edgartown of operating a motor vehicle while license was suspended for drunken driving, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and a motor vehicle lights violation. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 4.

John G. Murray, 21, of Edgartown, was arraigned on July 2 charges in Edgartown of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation and speeding at a rate that exceeds the posted speed limit. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 18.

Joseph Reyes, 27, of Edgartown was arraigned on July 4 charges in Edgartown of speeding at a rate that eceeds the posted limits and operating a motor vehicle while license suspended for drunken driving. Defendant released upon payment of $100 bail. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 11.

July 7

Temple E. Canfield, 57, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on a July 6 charge in Vineyard Haven of disorderly conduct. Charge dismissed upon recommendation of Probation Department. Case closed.

July 8

Mehmet Baranli, 26, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on Sept. 17, 2021 charges in Oak Bluffs of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no inspection sticker, and operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration. Charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle to be dismissed if $100 court costs are paid forthwith. Charge of operating an uninsured motor vehicle dismissed upon request of the Commonwealth. Found not responsible for no inspection sticker. Charge of operationg a vehicle with suspended registration dismissed by the request of the Commonwealth. Case closed. July 11

Thomas K. Dowd, 30, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on Jan. 28, 2021 charges in Edgartown of assault and battery of a pregnant victim, assault and battery that violated an abuse prevention order, and aggravated burglary. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 16.

Richard E. O’Connor Jr., 66, whom the court lists as homeless, was arraigned on a July 3 charge in Edgartown of trespassing. Defendant entered plea of not guilty. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 12.

Paulo Pacheco, 54, of Cotuit, was arraigned on a July 8 charge in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 29.

Ronaldo D. Luz Jr., 33, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on July 9 charges in Oak Bluffs of disorderly conduct and assault and battery. Defendant released on payment of $300 bail. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 15.

Joshua J. Collins, 42, of Hampden, was arraigned on July 9 charges in Oak Bluffs of lewd, wanton and lascivious conduct and sexual conduct for fee. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 12.

Scott H. Swan, 62, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on July 9 charges in Oak Bluffs of lewd, wanton and lascivious conduct and paying for sexual conduct. Defendant released on personal recognition and payment of $1,000 bail. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 23.

Laura A. Dvorak, 54, of Philadelphia, was arraigned on July 8 charges in Edgartown of drunken driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Defendant entered pleas of not guilty. Defendant released on payment of $500 bail. Pretrial hearing set for Sept. 23.

Alessandro Lourenco, 48, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on July 1 charges in West Tisbury of assault and battery, attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and threatning to commit a crime. Defendant held without bail without prejudice until July 14. Defendant relased July 14 upon payment of $200 bail and with further conditions of no abuse of alleged victim and must provide proof of employment to Probation. Probable cause hearing scheduled for August 11.

July 14

Marvin R. Fajardo, 46, of Providence, R.I. was arraigned on Sept. 23, 2004 chares in Vineyard Haven of a marked lanes violation, miscellaneous equipment violations, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and attempting to conceal a number plate. Found not responsible for marked lanes violation, charge of miscellaneous equipment violation, attempting to conceal a number plate and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Charge of operating an uninsured motor vehicle dismissed on the recommendation of the Probation Department. Case closed.

Lucimar B. Ribeiro, 25, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on July 11 charges in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery on a family or household member, threatening to commit a crime, and intimidating a witness/juror/police/court official. Defendant released on payment of $700 bail which may be returned, a $150 counsel fee, and with further condition to stay away from and have no contact with alleged victim. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 15.

Vincent V. Manning, 37, whom the court lists as homeless, was arraigned on a July 13 charge in Oak Bluffs of trespassing. Defendant released on personal recognition. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 8.

Charles J. Caldwell, 53, of Edgartown, was arraigned on July 13 charges in Oak Bluffs of indecent exposure, violating a municipal bylaw or ordinance, and disorderly conduct. Defendant released on personal recognition and with further condition to check in weekly with Probation. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 5.

Kiara J. Vought, 25, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on July 14 charges in Oak Bluffs of a second offense of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Defendant released on payment of $500 bail and with further condition to undergo SCRAM testing twice per day. Pretrial hering scheduled for Sept. 9.

July 18

Moises M. Desouza, 26, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on a July 16 charge in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery on a family or household member. Defendant released on payment of $500 bail. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 11.
