The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Feb. 21

Michael B. Ellis, 35, listed by the court as homeless, was arraigned on Jan. 23 charges in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. Defendant released on payment of $200 bail and with further conditions to stay away from and have no contact with alleged victim and to check in with probation in person and at a set time three times per week. Pretrial hearing scheduled for March 16.

Feb. 23

Juan Manuel Gelez, 35, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on a Feb. 21 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery. Defendant released on personal recognizance and with further conditions of no abuse of alleged victim and to turn over any firearms and firearm identification cards to the Oak Bluffs police department. Pretrial hearing and appearance with counsel scheduled for May 1.

Clerence H. Goncalves, 38, of Edgartown, was arraigned on Feb. 18 charges in Oak Bluffs of trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Defendant released on personal recognizance. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 5.

Matheus H. Desouza, 21, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on a Jan. 19 charge in Oak Bluffs of trespassing. Charge dismissed on recommendation of probation department and payment of $50 court costs. Case closed.

Feb. 24

Okolo M. Schwinn-Clanton, 51, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on Feb. 23 charges in Edgartown of trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Defendant released on personal recognizance. Pretrial hearing scheduled for April 21.
