Wedding trends in catering, florals and decor were center stage at the Martha’s Party wedding and event conference, which took place at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown this week.
Event professionals shared that many wedding receptions are shifting from sit-down dinners to cocktail style food or food stations. Brides are also requesting local food as much as possible, which is easy to source on the Island from fish to ice cream.
Florists say bold colors and putting fruits and vegetables in centerpieces are on trend at many events, but for weddings on Martha’s Vineyard, most brides prefer blue hydrangeas and white flowers.
Locally grown flowers are always on trend on the Island.
Also discussed at the conference, the many ways to get items and people to the Island on time for the wedding. Representatives from event venues shared that weddings are booking one and a half to two years out.
The wedding and event conference was produced by the Martha's Vineyard Island Weddings magazine, a part of the Vineyard Gazette Media Group.
