Due to inclement weather predicted, the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Division 3 state semifinal tennis matches scheduled for Tuesday have been moved to Wednesday.
The girls team will play St. John Paul II School at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and the boys will play Weston at 4 p.m.
The boys are heading to their fourth straight semifinal and facing a familiar foe. The team played Weston last year during the semifinals and fell 4-1.
The girls have already met St. John Paul twice in the regular season, splitting the matches. Girls coach Bill Rigali says the familiarity of their opponent has prepared them.
“It’s going to come down to a few sets here and there,” he said. “We’re expecting a close, tight match.”
For girls coach Bill Rigali, the chance to play in the semifinal game is one they don’t take lightly.
“Our success kind of caught us by surprise but that is a tribute to the girls’ hard work and their improvement over the course of the season and the work they’ve put in in the offseason,” he said. “We’re very excited about this opportunity.”
