The saying ‘if you don’t like the weather in New England wait a minute’ is certainly appropriate this month. You have sweaters on one day and the next you can’t get the air conditioning on fast enough.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Luiza De Oliveira, Maria Dos Anjos, Achilles Wright-Schultz and Annalu, who all celebrated June 7; Allie Branca, June 8; Hannah McCarthy, June 9; Beaufort Prescott, June 10; Anna Miller, Myles Comock, June 11; and to Ana Amaral-Espinoza and Victoria Atwood who celebrate June 13.
Congratulations to all the graduates of 2025. There have been lots of graduation parties and family time. The regional high school graduation was last Sunday. Rainbow Place preschool had theirs on Wednesday, June 11, and the Edgartown school graduation is June 13.
Happy Birthday to Raven Sequeira who celebrated her first birthday party this past Sunday with family and friends. Guests were greeted by her big brother Sabastian who showed everyone where the fairy party was. Weston and Julia Sequeira are the proud parents.
With school vacation coming up, check out the library schedule in the kid’s room. There are many activities on any given day. I looked at the schedule and they have some great activities for kids young and old.
The town is getting ready for the Jaws 50th anniversary. It is still fun to watch the movie and see all the Islanders who are in the movie. And even though you have seen the movie thousands of times, you still jump when Ben Gardner’s head come down in the hole in the boat. I was working at Featherstone Farm, and we would take a lunch break and go to State Beach to cool off and watch all the people going in and out of the water for the beach scenes. I can’t believe it has been 50 years.
Remember to keep an eye out for bikers on the bike paths. There are more and more young people as schools get out. Some pay attention to the cars coming out of side roads, but it is not always a guarantee.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
