After our torrential rains on Tuesday, I must pass on our DPW leader Kirk Metell’s advice: if you have a small car never drive it through Five Corners during a downpour. And my advice, too late to take, is never build roads above a former swamp.
Kudos will continue all month for our high school graduates. I add my grandson, Dominic Leigh Clark, to the mix. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Rockford, Ill. Way to go, Dom!
Our Vineyard Playhouse is looking for volunteer ushers for their summer programs. This is always a fun and interesting event.
Artist Harry Seymour has been chosen to be the artist in residence at the Mariposa Museum this season. The museum is at 57 Circuit avenue in the arts district. It is a place where histories, stories and cultures meet. This nonprofit is dedicated to the spirit of inclusion, building peace, equity and understanding through art, dialogue and community from June 10 through the end of September. I’ll see you there.
Juneteenth is approaching. Our NAACP MV will host a party on June 22 at the P.A. club from 2 to 5 p.m. Celebrate the day of freedom, unity and joy with music, dancing, food, camaraderie and entertainment. Local hip hop dancers will perform. Volunteers are needed to set up and break down after the party.
